About Us

Meet Jim Mikula
My name is Jim Mikula and I am the founder and president of Mephibosheth Ministries. The ministry is unique because God has given us a very unique family. All three of our children were born with a rare muscle condition called Arthrogryposis. Through our children, God has given us a desire to minister to families who have members with special needs.

Even though a family member may have special needs, this does not mean that they are not important to God. Our heavenly Father desires that all people should bring glory to Him. This involves people with special needs! Therefore; our ministry is designed to encourage and strengthen the faith of those who have special needs.

We use the Word of God to guide us as we accomplish these goals. There is a Bible study available to the parents of special needs children and we are making available a day camp for the children. Our ultimate goal would be to have a full-fledged handicap accessible camp where we could minister to people who have special needs.

May the Lord richly bless your life as you care for a family member with special needs.

Meet Martha Mikula
I’m the mom.  My name is Martha.  I never expected to be the mother of special needs children, but I am thankful for the children that the Lord has brought into my life.  It is never emotionally easy when a child with special needs is born, but God knows what is best and He always gives us grace and strength to get through each situation.

I am a domestic engineer, which means I get to stay home with my children.  I also have the privilege of home schooling our children.  I am so thankful for being able to be the one that gets to see the excitement when they understand a new concept or conquer a difficult problem.

Arthrogryposis is a muscle disorder that can affect any muscle in the body.  As a result our children have had many surgeries and have spent thousands of hours in therapy.  This has given us many opportunities to talk to other parents and try to be an encouragement to them.  We have been asked two questions many times, “Why would you adopt another child with special needs?”  and “How can you handle three special needs children?”  These are questions that I enjoy answering.  If you want to hear my answer, just email me.  We have also heard people say, “You’re crazy!”  But we just smile and agree.

Meet Ruby Mikula

My name is Ruby.  I am 13 years old. I am the oldest of us three kids. I love to praise my Lord Jesus Christ in my piano playing. I have been playing since I was in first grade. I also love to hang out with friends, talk on the phone, bead, crochet, knit, and lots of other things. My favorite animal is kittens. We have two little kittens and some more coming. We also have a goat, two dogs, and some rabbits. With my disability there are multiple things that I can’t do. But, I just look to the Lord and my friends for help as I try to do the best that I can.

Meet Jimmy Mikula

Hi! My name is Jimmy. I am Jim and Martha’s favorite son.  (I mean only son.) I was born on September 20, 1999 with Arthrogryposis. Because of my disability I have had lots of challenges that other boys my age don’t have to deal with, like having seven surgeries before I was 10 years old.  I still enjoy many of the things boys my age do. One of my favorite things to do is to build with legos. I also love animals; I have a dog, a goat, and several rabbits. With my disability there are some activities that I can’t do, but God knows what’s best.

Meet Irma Mikula

I’m Irma!  Want to be my friend? I love people and talking, but not always in that order.  I was born in Quito, Ecuador in South America.  Mom and Dad didn’t think their family was complete with only two children, so they picked me.  I also have “ar to pi a po sis” (Arthrogryposis.)  I love playing with my dolls and cooking in my kitchen and mom’s, when she lets me.  My best friend is Anna Sherman, we get along just like sisters; we fight. My favorite chore is feeding the birds with Grandpa Mikula.

Meet Sheth

Hi, I'm Sheth, that's short for Mephibosheth.  I like to play hide and go seek.  Each month you can find me hidden in a different place around our web site. When you find me, send Mrs. Martha an email at mephiboshethministries@yahoo.com and let her know where I am hidden.  Each month Mrs. Martha will draw a name from all of those that email her. The person whose name is drawn will receive a special treat in the mail. So don't forget to check back each month to see where I am hidden.
